Cybersecurity Governance Manager

The ignITe Hub is launching a monthly Future of Tech Lunch & Learn Series. Each month, the we will host a cutting-edge guest speaker to explore an innovative area in the world of technology. Topics will range from BioTech to Entertainment Technology and beyond. We will learn from notable industry experts about a specific type of technology, how this technology is being used to solve a community problem and what are unique career pathways related to this field.

In recognition of Cybersecurity Month, our featured guest speaker is Mr. Gabriel Childer, GCIA, who will present on Cybersecurity in the Real World from the perspective of Transportation Technology. Mr. Childer is the Cybersecurity Governance Manager of the Cyber Services Unit at WMATA where he leads two separate teams, Cyber Metrics and Personnel management. In this capacity, he is responsible for a range of programs that includes Security Awareness, Phishing Simulations, Cybersecurity Metrics, Career Path Development and Mentoring.

Previously, Gabriel was a photojournalist for local and national news outlets for about 13 years. Since then, he has specialized in the areas of Cyber Threat Intelligence. He currently holds Global Certified Intrusion Analysis (GCIA) certification from the SANS Institute. Gabriel has received bachelor’s degree of Broadcast Journalism and a master’s degree of Information Systems from Keller Graduate School of Management.
