Description

Classrooms around the world are subsets of the broader communities they serve. One of the best ways to make an immediate impact on those communities is to expand the perspective of their students. And listening to different perspectives helps us pause and reflect on our own views. That’s why Apple launched the Racial Equity and Justice Initiative (REJI) designed to help leaders, educators, and parents create a dialogue about race and injustice in a way that’s empowering and accessible for all.

Join us to explore:

  • How to have courageous and meaningful conversations around issues of racial injustice.
  • A common vocabulary to help us to have informed and compassionate discussions.
  • The Challenge Based Learning Framework to help you organize your thoughts, ask questions, and conduct and synthesize research.
  • Resources to learn more and work through the Challenge for Change Learning Series.

This session is an opportunity to learn how you can be a part of the movement and create opportunities for ongoing conversations about racial equity and justice in your community.

Our featured guest speaker is Dr. Mason Mason, K-12 Education Leadership and Learning Executive at Apple, Inc. who currently serves as a trusted advisor to some of the largest school districts in America, including NYC, LA, and Chicago—helping drive meaningful change and transformation in their learning environments. Prior to joining Apple, Mason spent over ten years in secondary public education as a teacher and campus administrator. He received his B.A. in English and Education from The Ohio State University and his M.Ed and Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Southern Methodist University. Mason is passionate about the intersections of liberal arts and technology and closing the digital divide for underrepresented populations.
