Juan has been at Hughes since 1997 and has always been a self-learner. His interest in Information Technologies (IT) first developed in the early 1980s as he acquired skills in management and software development using mid-range computers, mainframes and today’s well-known personal computers, local and wide area networks, cloud, and cybersecurity.
Juan’s career in IT has allowed him to apply his expertise on both a domestic and international scale, working for entities like the Inter-American Development Bank and the World Bank, and serving in multiple divisions within Hughes. He has consulted with customers in Europe, Africa, and Latin America to implement or support terrestrial and satellite networks when he worked in the international division. Since 2008, he has worked in the cybersecurity division where he leads a team of 7 engineers to protect the workplace network infrastructure using optimal security practices.
